FAQs
Does I Got E-Waste service residential customers? No. I Got E-Waste is a commercial-only service for Bay Area businesses, schools, nonprofits, and government agencies with at least five qualifying items. For single-item residential e-waste in San Francisco, Recology offers free bulky-item pickup and the SF Transfer Station accepts up to 30 items per month at no cost.
What does commercial e-waste pickup cost in the Bay Area? Pickups are free for qualifying Bay Area businesses, schools, nonprofits, and government agencies that meet the 5-item minimum for computers, monitors, laptops, networking equipment, servers, or test equipment. Smaller pickups range from $50โ$100 depending on location within the service area.
What items qualify for free pickup? Free pickups cover computers, LCD monitors, CRT monitors, laptops, networking equipment, servers, and test equipment with a 5-item minimum. Once the minimum is met, we also accept printers, scanners, phones, tablets, UPS units, cables, and miscellaneous IT hardware in the same trip.
Do you provide certified data destruction? Yes. I Got E-Waste performs a 7-pass hard drive wipe meeting DoD 5220.22-M standards, with physical shredding available when required. Certificates of destruction are issued on request for compliance and audit records.
Are you R2 Certified? I Got E-Waste works exclusively with EPA-approved, R2 Certified downstream recyclers. No collected material is shipped overseas illegally or sent to landfill, and chain-of-custody documentation is available.
What’s your Bay Area service area? I Got E-Waste services organizations within a 35-mile radius of San Francisco. That includes San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, Walnut Creek, San Mateo, Palo Alto, San Jose, Fremont, Hayward, and surrounding North and East Bay communities.
Can you handle an office move-out or building-wide cleanout? Yes. I Got E-Waste coordinates large-volume pickups from loading docks, multi-tenant commercial buildings, warehouses, and full office decommissions. The company is fully insured and provides certificates of insurance to property management on request.
How does California SB 20 apply to my business? California’s Electronic Waste Recycling Act (SB 20) requires covered electronic devices be recycled through approved channels rather than disposed of as solid waste. I Got E-Waste’s R2-certified downstream chain meets SB 20 requirements, and disposition is documented for your records.
How fast can you schedule a pickup? Most Bay Area commercial pickups are scheduled within 1โ2 business days of request. Larger jobs and property-management-coordinated pickups typically book 5โ7 days out.
